(SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO) – Motivating residents of Puerto Rico to plan their vacations on the Island is one of the main responsibilities of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC). Hotel registrations statistics show that 40% of hotel occupancy is attributable to residents. Acknowledging the importance of promoting Domestic Tourism, the PRTC announced today the “Voy Turisteando” Fair, to be held on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 at the Paseo La Princesa in Old San Juan.
All throughout this family-friendly event, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a tour of all the Island’s touristic districts. Personnel from hotels, “paradores”, culinary inns, casinos, tour operators, attractions, artisans, restaurants, and many others industry members will be on hand to let the public know about the diverse tourism offerings that Puerto Rico offers.
“The Puerto Rico Tourism Company is opening the Paseo La Princesa, a popular iconic site, to the public and all PRTC endorsed businesses on October 27 and 28. The Voy Turisteando Fair is a one-stop information center where everyone can learn about offers and locations available around the Island and start planning their Christmas’ or next year’s vacation. PRTC continues to wager on tourism to contribute to our Island’s economic growth. We are convinced that vacationing in Puerto Rico should be a viable and affordable option to our people. Puerto Rico is your best vacation!”, stated Carla Campos, executive director of PRTC.
The event, free of charge and open to the general public, is an excellent and unique opportunity to learn about vacation options in Puerto Rico for all budgets and interests.
During the Voy Turisteando Fair, each tourism region will have its own pavilion where it will present tour options and offers available in the area as well as provide interactive experiences. The event will also include certified artisans, food and drink kiosks, as well as a stage with a live entertainment program for the whole family.
For those looking for an adrernaline rush, the municipality of Salinas and the Albergue Olímpico will bring its 13-feet rock climbing wall. Likewise, Orocovis and Toro Verde will set up their world-famous zipline, so the public can get a taste of the excitement the real thing can provide.
CHRISTMAS COMES TO TOWN AT THE DOMESTIC TOURISM FAIR!
After the challenges the Puerto Rican people faced during last year, the Voy Turisteando Fair start the Christmas celebrations earlier than ever dedicating part of the event’s program to the traditional music, food and festivities that characterize our unique Christmas season.
The Voy Turisteando Fair will be open from 11:00 am to 8:00pm. Musical entertainment will last until 10pm.
All PRTC-endorsed companies can participate, exhibit their wares and provide information to the public. For more information please access the official Voy Turisteando Facebook and Twitter pages.
