November 25, 2015, San Juan – Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) Executive Director, Ingrid Rivera Rocafort, announced the arrival of Windstar’s Star Legend cruise ship to San Juan. The ship’s visit will have an estimated impact of $335,917.97 to the local economy. It will be the first time the cruise line will have Puerto Rico as base port, and will also be the first time the Star Legend will make two stops at Puerto Rican ports, including a visit to Culebra island as part of its travel plans. The ship, which has a 135-meter length and a maximum capacity of 212 passengers, employs 140 people.

“This year’s cruise ship high season continues to have a positive impact on our local industry. Being a departing port is very important, since it provides a significant boost to our economy, as a result of the number of travelers that come to the Island to board these ships. These travelers represent hotel reservations, clients for our restaurants and shops. And this benefits are repeated once they come back at the end of their trip”, explained Rivera Rocafort.

The Star Legend cruise line, recently named the “World Best Small Ships Cruise Line” by Conde Nast, is recognized for taking its passengers to smaller ports to provide travelers an intimate experience that will help them enjoy unique non-commercial destinations of great beauty. The Star Legend will also visit Virgin Gorda, St. Barts and Jost Van Dyke, among other islands of the Caribbean.
