The Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) and the Senate of Puerto Rico joined representatives of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) in their annual Christmas gift distribution event, the FCCA Holiday Gift Project. The Senate President of Puerto Rico, Eduardo A. Bhatia, and the tourism company’s Executive Director, Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort, participated in distributing gifts to nearly 140 children between the ages of 4-10 years old, from the communities of Villa Palmeras, Berwind, Canovanas and Loiza. Coop Tours, Sun Tours Rico and UTG companies assisted in the transportation of the children to the capitol of the country to participate in this festive event.

The Grandeur of the Seas, from the Royal Caribbean cruise line, participated in transporting Santa Claus and the Christmas gifts to the island. Children also received storybooks and paint from the Senate as a part the ongoing campaign, “Give a book during Christmas.” Throughout the day, the children enjoyed guided tours of the capitol building, while enjoying refreshments and storytelling by various Puerto Rican celebrities.

“There is nothing more significant that we can give our youth than a good education, books are wonderful tools to learn and explore the adventurous world of knowledge. This Christmas we encourage children who visit the island to bring a book to share and read. We welcome all boys and girls who are celebrating Christmas with us,” said the senate leader.

“We have joined forces with the FCCA to bring a message of joy to our children during such a beautiful and meaningful time of the year. The decision to include Puerto Rico once again as part of the FCCA Holiday Gift Project is another example of the commitment of the cruise industry to our island,” said the executive director of the tourism company.

“The FCCA Holiday Gift Project spreads cheer to children who truly deserve it,” said Michele Paige, President of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association. “The cruise industry is proud to contribute to the communities of our partners. We cannot think of anything more rewarding than to bring joy and help to children in need,” she added.

“The FCCA Holiday Gift Project is a celebration that helps rekindle the children’s spirit of Christmas. Events like this help bring a message of unity and love to those who are the true future of our island,” concluded Rivera Rocafort.
